Stress and Burnout Therapy
Being capable should not require running on empty.
When responsibility becomes relentless, competence can hide how depleted you feel, even from you.

What To Expect
Notice the cost of always managing
Burnout can show up as irritability, detachment, dread, poor concentration or the sense that nothing you do is enough. Rest may help, but it may not change the pattern that created the exhaustion.
Capable people can keep functioning long after the cost has become significant. You may meet responsibilities while feeling increasingly disconnected, resentful or unable to recover. If your standard is always to do more, even needed rest can feel like another task you are failing to complete.
We will identify what is draining you and what keeps you overextended.
How We Work
Build a more sustainable standard
CBT can help test rigid rules about productivity, worth and responsibility. Solution-focused work turns insight into specific changes in boundaries, routines and decisions.
In sessions, we may examine a recent demand and the rule attached to it. You may believe you must handle everything yourself, keep everyone satisfied or wait until every task is complete before resting. We can check whether that rule is accurate, useful and sustainable, then identify a different response to practice in real life.
The aim is not to make you tolerate an unsustainable situation more efficiently.
More about this
We can distinguish what you can change, what needs a direct conversation and what may require a larger decision.
How We Work
Start where the pressure is clearest
You do not have to redesign your whole life before therapy can be useful. We can begin with the part of the week you dread, the boundary you keep postponing or the decision that takes up more energy than it should.
My approach is direct and collaborative. We can look at the wider pattern while staying practical about the next step. DBT skills may help when strong emotion makes it difficult to pause. CBT can help test assumptions about responsibility and worth. Solution-focused questions can identify changes that are small enough to try and meaningful enough to matter.
A free consultation gives us a chance to discuss what is leaving you depleted and whether my approach fits. I work with adults by secure telehealth while they are located in Connecticut, New York or Massachusetts.

Common Questions
Questions You May Be Asking
Is burnout only about work?
No. Chronic strain can be connected to work, caregiving, perfectionism, difficult boundaries, decision fatigue or a loss of meaning. We will look at the pattern that is affecting your life.
Will therapy just help me tolerate more?
That is not the aim. We can distinguish what you can change, what needs a direct conversation and what may require a larger decision.
What can we focus on first?
We can begin with one pressure point, such as a recurring demand, a postponed boundary or a rigid expectation, and choose a practical response to test outside the session.
