Online Therapy for Adults in Fairfield

Every stage of adult life has its own kind of pressure.

Fairfield is home to college students, young professionals, growing families and longtime residents. I offer secure video therapy to adults at every one of those stages, wherever you are in Connecticut.

A town with many stages of adult life

Fairfield runs along Long Island Sound and is home to Fairfield University and Sacred Heart University. That mix means the town holds students living away from home for the first time, graduate students balancing work and study, faculty and staff, young families and people who have lived here for decades.

Each of those stages carries its own strain. A young adult may be managing anxiety that first became noticeable in a new, less structured environment. A mid-career parent may be stretched between work and a household. Someone nearing retirement may be asking what the next chapter is supposed to hold.

I work with adults from age 18 through 65 and beyond, so the concern does not have to fit a single life stage.

For students and young adults over 18

If you are a student in Fairfield, you may already have access to counseling on campus. Some students prefer an outside therapist for privacy, for continuity over breaks, or because they want longer-term individual work. You must be at least 18, and you must be physically in Connecticut, New York or Massachusetts during each session.

With young adults, I often work on anxiety, low mood, drinking that has started to feel less like a choice, and the pressure of decisions about school, work and relationships. We keep the work practical and connected to your actual week.

If you go home for a break to a state other than Connecticut, New York or Massachusetts, tell me ahead of time so we can plan around it.

What therapy with me looks like

Sessions are by secure video. You join from a private room with a reliable connection and a phone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone.

My approach is warm and direct. I draw from CBT to examine thoughts and behavior, Motivational Interviewing when part of you wants change and part of you does not, DBT skills for strong emotions and solution-focused questions to notice what already works. I explain what we are doing and why.

I bring more than 30 years in behavioral health, including leadership of hospital and state programs, and I have been in private practice since 2014. I hold an MSW from Florida State University and an MPH from Columbia University.

When anxiety and drinking travel together

In college towns, drinking is often woven into social life, and it can be hard to tell where ordinary socializing ends and a pattern that worries you begins. Some young adults notice they drink to quiet social anxiety or to switch off after a stressful week. Others simply feel uneasy about how much they are drinking and want to think it through with someone who will not lecture them.

I use Motivational Interviewing for this kind of work. It is collaborative and respectful, and it starts from what you already know and value rather than from rules. We can look at what alcohol does for you, what it costs you and what, if anything, you want to change.

The same approach helps with other mixed feelings, such as staying in a program that no longer fits or leaving a relationship. You set the direction, and I help you see it clearly.

Insurance and first steps

I am in network with most major insurance plans and a participating provider in the MultiPlan network. Coverage varies, so please confirm your behavioral health benefits with your insurer. Superbills are available for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Common Questions

Questions People Ask

Can a Fairfield University or Sacred Heart student work with you?

Yes, if you are 18 or older and physically in Connecticut, New York or Massachusetts during each session. I am an independent private practice and not affiliated with either university.

What if I go home for winter or summer break?

Tell me your plans ahead of time. If you will be in Connecticut, New York or Massachusetts, we can continue. If you will be in another state, we will plan around the gap together.

Do you only see young adults?

No. I work with adults of all ages, from young adults through people in their sixties and beyond.
