When the job takes more than it gives

Stamford is home to many corporate headquarters and financial firms, and it sits at a busy point on the Metro-North New Haven Line and I-95. Plenty of people who work here are good at their jobs and are praised for being reliable. That reliability can quietly turn into a standard that never lets up.

Burnout rarely arrives all at once. It can look like dreading Sunday evenings, snapping at people you care about, sleeping poorly, drinking more to wind down or feeling detached from work you once cared about. Anxiety can also show up as constant checking, overpreparing or difficulty switching off.

Therapy gives you a steady hour to look at what is driving the pattern and to decide what a more sustainable standard would look like.

A format built for a full calendar

All sessions are by secure video. I do not have an office in Stamford, which means no extra travel between meetings. You can join from home, a private office with the door closed or a parked car, as long as you can speak freely.

You must be physically in Connecticut, New York or Massachusetts during each session. If you split your week between Stamford and an office in New York City, either one works, since I am licensed in both states.

Confidentiality matters. Choose a place where coworkers cannot overhear, and consider headphones.

Practical tools, used with judgment

Before starting my private practice in 2014, I spent years leading mental health, psychiatric and addiction programs in hospital and state systems. I understand organizational pressure from the inside, including what it is like to be responsible for other people's work.

In our sessions, CBT can help you notice and test the thoughts that keep the pressure on, such as the belief that any mistake will be catastrophic. Motivational Interviewing can help if part of you wants a change, such as a new role or less drinking, and part of you is not sure. Solution-focused questions help us build on what already works.

The aim is not to make you care less about your work. It is to help you work in a way you can sustain, with more room for your health and the people in your life.

Anxiety that looks like diligence

In demanding workplaces, anxiety is often rewarded. Overpreparing, checking email late at night and replaying every meeting can look like dedication, and colleagues may never guess how much effort it takes to keep up the appearance of calm.

Over time, that effort wears people down. Sleep suffers, patience runs thin and the pleasure goes out of work you used to enjoy. In therapy, we look at the predictions that drive the anxiety and test them in manageable steps, so that you can do excellent work without treating every task as a threat.

Sometimes the question is not how to cope with the job but whether to stay in it at all. A career change can bring grief for an identity you built over years, along with excitement and fear. We can take both seriously and make the decision more deliberate.

I work with adults individually and welcome people of every background, identity and culture.

Insurance and next steps

I am in network with most major insurance plans and a participating provider in the MultiPlan network. Superbills are available for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and private-pay fees are discussed before your first session.

Common Questions

Questions People Ask

Can I have sessions during the workday in Stamford?

Yes, if you have a private space where you can talk openly and you are in Connecticut. Many professionals use a closed office or a parked car.

Will my employer know I am in therapy?

Therapy is confidential, and I do not share information with your employer without your written permission. If you use insurance through work, your insurer handles claims under its own privacy rules. You can ask your insurer how that works for your plan.

Do you help with burnout even if I am not ready to change jobs?

Yes. Many people want to stay in their role and change how they work within it. We start from your goals.
